The Menhir de Champ-Dolent

The Menhir de Champ-Dolent stands near Dol-de-Bretagne in Brittany, France, as one of the tallest and most impressive megalithic monuments in the region. 

Reaching a height of 9.5 meters (31 feet), the massive granite stone dates back to the Neolithic period, between 5000 and 4000 BC. Its exact purpose remains uncertain, though it is widely believed to have served as a ceremonial, religious, or territorial marker.

The stone is surrounded by local legends. One tale suggests that it fell from the sky to stop two feuding brothers, symbolizing peace.

Another myth claims that the menhir is sinking slowly into the earth and that its complete disappearance will mark the end of the world.
